L-Tyrosine
Usage and benefits
L-Tyrosine (CAS# 60-18-4) is a type of amino acid and dietary supplement that is growing in use. L-Tyrosine is a precursor of catecholamines and influences the synthesis of dopamine and adrenaline.
Manufacturers use this dietary supplement in Nootropic products that improve alertness, attention and focus. L-tyrosine has also been reported to have positive effects in preventing a decline in cognitive function in response to physical stress. It supports performance during extended periods of high stress activity and sleep deprivation.
L-Tyrosine also formulated in fat burners or weight loss supplements as production of thyroid hormones is also influenced by this amino acid.
L-Tyrosine is used in dietary supplements e.g:
• Nootropics
• Weight loss or fat burners
• Stress relief products
There is another form of L-Tyrosine called N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (CAS# 537-55-3) which is more soluble and appears to be relatively heat stable.
Dosage
The recommended dosage of l-Tyrosine is 500-2000mg approximately 30-60 minutes before any acute stressor e.g. exercise.
